At least in the sense I understand science fiction – which is probably more correctly described as a commentary on current society by extrapolating trends and meditating about their consequences, whether they may be good (as in StarTrek with its idealised, peaceful earth) or bad (as explored in the genre of cyberpunk).

Of course, this might exclude some other works – most notably the whole StarWars saga, which in my opinion resembles more a fantastic epos than anything else.

The paradise seemed always to loom just around the corner, and whenever they came around, it was still farther away – a Fata Morgana , or rather: an illusion of Fata Morgana, as “fata” is Italian for “fairy”, which translates the Fata Morgana into Morgan the Fairy – Morgaine la Faye , cast as a Goddess of Illusion and Deceit.

…As could be expected of Michael Ende, this place can be found in one of the blank spots on the world’s maps, and it is never clear whether this place has always been there or if it was the main character’s imagination or wish to have it placed there.

Allgemein finde ich, dass in der Poetry-Slam-Szene einiges Potential für Kinderbücher vorhanden wäre: und man verstehe mich hier bitte nicht falsch – ich bin der Meinung, dass auch Kinder hochstehende Texte verdienen, und nicht bloss irgendwelche Abfallkrumen aus der literarischen Produktion, die so nebenher anfallen.
