For future reference: Images placed in Microsoft Word for Mac v.X (yes, that’s quite an old version now) only print when having a width of less that 4096 pixel. Height seems to have no influence, neither does the colour mode (experiments have been conducted with both a 8bit-RGB TIFF and a Bitmap TIFF). And I [...]

So next week, I’m sure we won’t see any kind of tablet computer from Apple. I am 99% confident we will see an Apple phone, with enhanced music capabilities and maybe a few computing features such as email and contacts synchronisation with Macs or through .Mac.[No Tablet-PC][1]? /me is disappointed.

Windows development chief: ‘I would buy a Mac’

Well, of course, every Mac lover has to fall over that headline like a hyena …Allchin, who has headed various aspects of Windows development since the mid-1990s but plans to retire at the end of this year with the shipping of Windows Vista, later wrote in the same e-mail that he would buy a Mac if he was not a Microsoft employee, according to transcripts from proceedings Thursday and Friday in the class-action case obtained and posted by Groklaw.net, an open-source legal Web site.[Windows development chief: 'I would buy a Mac if I didn't work for Microsoft'][1], via [macnews.de][2].Looks like there are at least still some sane people left. Well. Partially sane.

Better look out; luckily, there are some guidelines available that will help you: If you pay close attention to your son’s reading habits, as I do, you will be able to determine a great deal about his opinions and hobbies…. Any father who has had a seventeen year old daughter attempt to sneak out on a date wearing make up and perfume is well aware of the effect that improper influences can have on inexperienced minds. There are, unfortunately, many hacking manuals available in bookshops today. A few titles to be on the lookout for are: “Snow Crash” and “Cryptonomicon” by Neal Stephenson; “Neuromancer” by William Gibson; “Programming with Perl” by Timothy O’Reilly; “Geeks” by Jon Katz; “The Hacker Crackdown” by Bruce Sterling; “Microserfs” by Douglas Coupland; “Hackers” by Steven Levy; and “The Cathedral and the Bazaar” by Eric S.

Adobe’s PDF (Acrobat) format and Macromedia’s Flash platform are probably their two most pervasive products and so the effects of such an acquisition will likely be felt by anyone with an Internet connection in some form or another. Put another way, it’s a safe bet to say that soon, we’ll be able to generate PDFs from Flash movies with a ColdFusion backend that plays back video edited in Premiere wrapped in an interface laid out in Dreamweaver, designed in Fireworks and colored in Illustrator.

Growing Up
