Transparent Things

The thing about 10000 BC is the fact that it’s so beautifully transparent.

Your main character is called D’Leh, backwards Held (German for Hero).

His main interest is called Evolet, so we realise that she is t[h]e love.

The baddies look like very bad people.

And the really bad people come either from the stars (therefore being aliens) or from a lost continent (a.k.a. Atlantis) – and, kudos to the scriptwriters, those two different theories of their origin are delivered in one line.

Of course, they’re slaughtered right afterwards for being really bad people, which obviously explains why there are no more Atlanteans1. But then again, one shouldn’t wonder why they died out given the fact that they have the strange idea of building huge pyramids right in the middle of a dry desert.

I guess the ’s transparency is largely due to its huge plot holes. One of its merits is clearly the fact that it’s not needlessly complex.

Apart from that, it just cuts and pastes from all different other movies; one notable example being Chicken Run. That even happens with the music that quotes freely from the Scores from Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and King Arthur. I’m kinda waiting for the Big List of All Referenced Movies. Should be around, shortly, I guess.
