This “Wiki” is a catalogue of the tricks of the trade for writing scripts. We dip into the cauldron of story and place it in front of you to read.

Well – just as there is the Big list of RPG Plots, there is now the big list, or rather the big wiki of tropes used in all possible media.

While it possibly might take the fun out of watching TV shows for some, I find that list wildly interesting – after all, I myself am continually registering those tropes when they appear and evaluating them for later use. So for me, this wiki is more like one big Zettelkasten …

So, instead of updating my website, which is beside the point already (I should be working for university, mind you), I browse through that treasure chest of tropes. I especially love their way of naming things (take the Stepford Smiler or the Defrosting Ice Queen for example).

Or I could go look up that one Series to realise how many tropes actually can be tracked down to StarTrek or have been named after an episode or character.

Yes, that Link of the Day just keeps me distracted, I’m afraid.
