Experiments with Quartz Composer: X30 Starcatcher
Not that I actually had time to do this stuff – but this evening, I got hooked on Quartz Composer and started experimenting with it. Using trial and error, it was quite easy to grasp its concept. The result? X30 Starcatcher.
Featuring dark, warm colours, meditatively falling stars, some fuzzy clouds and some text, all at a slow, calming pace. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be to agressive on your resources – my point was to create a screensaver that doesn’t trigger my PowerBook’s fans – quite hard to find these days …
To use, download the file (ca. 865KB) and drop it into your ~/Library/Screen Savers/ folder. The open your System Preferences and choose X30starcatcher in the Screen Savers panel. That’s it.
And, yeah – you need a Mac to play with that …
