It’s Gone, Gone, Gone, Gone …
Did I write something about my bike falling to bits and pieces? Well, worry no more. Because it’s gone. Really gone. Stolen out of the backyard on broad daylight. On my fourth to last day. What a joy. Now there’s nothing to return on friday – and no money to get back, either. Crap. Right now, I’m not really sure if I want to bother with Irish police again.
And now for something completely different: to ease the transition from German to English of xeophintapestry, this little trick might come in handy — as long as you use Mac OS X 10.4, that is:
Whenever you encounter a word you don’t recognise, select it, right-click and choose Define in Dictionary (Im Lexikon nachschlagen für Deutschsprachige) – and voilà: you get an explanation of the word, like this:

I really like the way this is implemented – it’s completely unique right now (so much about consistency), but I’d like other applications tie in like this. Why doesn’t the spell checker work like this? That would be much more convenient than this palette-like window they currently use …
He he he. Of course, we English speakers could always have a go at translating the german through the Google translator. Instant gibberish of course but great fun…. :-)
Sorry Kaspar, I’m the king of useless comments…
*g* If one got rid of all useless comments in the internet, it would be pretty empty afterwards … ;-)
And of course, Google Translator works the other way as well. In the same gibberishish way …
