Your opinion, please
Yes, this post is done in English. Yes, this hasn’t happened before. But that might change in the future, as long as I am not faced with stiff opposition from my readers.
My stay in Galway has produced some new readers of this blog, and some of them don’t know German. Maybe I assume too much if I think they might be interested in my humble writings … On the other hand, most of the former readers I know of can read English, so it won’t be much of a change for them – I hope.
As for me, it would be a good opportunity to get more exercise in writing, as I am still considerably slower than in German. Fact is, that at a future point I might have to write everything, from reports to plots to shopping lists in English, so I can as well begin practicing right now. And if someone would point out from time to time my biggest mistakes – what could I ask for more?
Well, for a starter, I could ask for your opinion, dear readers: Shall I change the main language for this blog to English? Please debate, the comments are open (as always).

Nun, wenn Du glaubst, mehr Leserinnen und Leser in der weiten Welt zu haben – und es Dir egal ist, die «nahen» zu verlieren…
… die Umfrage jedenfalls war eigentlich unnötig, Du hast Dich ja eh entschieden. (Zählt denn Barbaras Stimme nichts?) Und wo sind denn die befürwortenden Stimmen aus aller Welt, aus der großen internationalen Lesergemeinde? Das sind ja Zustände wie in Deutschland…

Falsch die Erwartung, falsch die Hoffnung? Ich denke: ja. Du wirst Leserinnen und Leser verlieren. Richte Dir doch ein mehrsprachiges Blog ein, das ist heute ja ganz einfach und rasch zu bewerkstelligen.
Oder schreibt der Schockwwellenreiter etwa in Englisch, obschon er der Sprache mächtig ist?
