Mike Matas – blutjunger Designer mit einem wahren Gespür für «Mac-Likeness» und früherer OmniGroup-Mitarbeiter und jetziger Delicious Monster-Mitbegründer hat sich wie ich auch über das neue OmniOutliner-Icon gewundert – und sich im Gegensatz zu mir dahinter gesetzt und einen Ersatz gestaltet:

If you have used the new OmniOutliner 3 you’ve probably noticed its disgusting new icon. It makes me nauseous thinking how low Omni has fallen. Since I use this app a lot the icon has been digging into my nerves and I finally cracked the other day. I open Photoshop and finished this once and for all doing a replacement icon for the app and its documents.

Zur Ehrenrettung von OmniOutliner muss jedoch gesagt werden, dass das Programm bei weitem eines der besten Outlining-Programm ist und vor allem auch bezüglich der gesamten Oberfläche seit Version 2 einiges zugelegt hat und inzwischen sehr elegant und benutzerfreundlich daherkommt. Dass dabei gerade das Icon abfällt (ich war mir sicher, dass dieses braune Etwas bestimmt nur für die Beta-Version gebraucht würde), ist schon etwas eigenartig …
